How to Create a Discord Server for Your YouTube Channel
Build a thriving community around your YouTube channel with Discord!
Step 1: Sign Up or Log In to Discord
If you don't have a Discord account, go to discord.com and create one. If you already have an account, simply log in.
Step 2: Create a New Server
- Click the "Add a Server" button (a + icon) on the left sidebar.
- Select "Create My Own" to make a server from scratch.
- Choose "For me and my friends" or "For a club or community" — for YouTube, the community option is recommended.
- Give your server a name, preferably matching your YouTube channel.
- Upload your YouTube logo as the server icon.
Step 3: Set Up Channels
Organize your server with text and voice channels. Example:
- #welcome – Greet new members.
- #announcements – Share video uploads or important news.
- #general-chat – For general discussions.
- #video-feedback – For members to share their thoughts on your videos.
- 🎤 Voice Channels – For live chats or watch parties.
Step 4: Customize Roles & Permissions
Give members different roles like Moderator, Subscriber, or VIP. Go to Server Settings > Roles to manage these.
Step 5: Add Useful Bots
Enhance your server with bots for moderation, music, or notifications:
- MEE6 – For moderation and YouTube upload notifications.
- Dyno – Additional moderation and automation.
- Find More Bots – Explore more options.
Step 6: Promote Your Server
- Share your server invite link in your YouTube video descriptions.
- Mention the server in your videos.
- Pin the invite link in your YouTube comments or community posts.
Step 7: Engage With Your Community
Welcome new members, host Q&A sessions, and create events to keep your community active and connected.
