How to Create a Discord Server for Your YouTube Channel

Build a thriving community around your YouTube channel with Discord!

Step 1: Sign Up or Log In to Discord

If you don't have a Discord account, go to discord.com and create one. If you already have an account, simply log in.

Step 2: Create a New Server

  • Click the "Add a Server" button (a + icon) on the left sidebar.
  • Select "Create My Own" to make a server from scratch.
  • Choose "For me and my friends" or "For a club or community" — for YouTube, the community option is recommended.
  • Give your server a name, preferably matching your YouTube channel.
  • Upload your YouTube logo as the server icon.

Step 3: Set Up Channels

Organize your server with text and voice channels. Example:

  • #welcome – Greet new members.
  • #announcements – Share video uploads or important news.
  • #general-chat – For general discussions.
  • #video-feedback – For members to share their thoughts on your videos.
  • 🎤 Voice Channels – For live chats or watch parties.

Step 4: Customize Roles & Permissions

Give members different roles like Moderator, Subscriber, or VIP. Go to Server Settings > Roles to manage these.

Step 5: Add Useful Bots

Enhance your server with bots for moderation, music, or notifications:

  • MEE6 – For moderation and YouTube upload notifications.
  • Dyno – Additional moderation and automation.
  • Find More Bots – Explore more options.

Step 6: Promote Your Server

  • Share your server invite link in your YouTube video descriptions.
  • Mention the server in your videos.
  • Pin the invite link in your YouTube comments or community posts.

Step 7: Engage With Your Community

Welcome new members, host Q&A sessions, and create events to keep your community active and connected.
